We have all been transported overnight to a different reality that many of us did not choose. Millions of people have been held hostage to the current political situation and are now forced to live parallel lives that are not their own – encapsuled and vacuumed. Sometimes there are unexpected intersections of people torn by a multitude of contradictory feelings and from this, a new life can be born beyond logic, limits, politics and conventions.
What is it that unites us now and can unite us in this new reality?
Parallels is an exploration of the feelings of people who used to live normal lives until February 24th 2022 when everything changed dramatically. The Performance is a reflection of artists from Austria, Ukraine and Russia who overcome mental and existential problems, isolation and despair in their own ways. Parallels is part of the performance series „New Reality After“ – fragility, cold, cage, behind glass, love, before and after. The main theme of this series, which we are reflecting on, is human nature: humanity, cruelty and art.
UTOPIA22 is an international artistic and social project bringing together students, amateurs and professional artists from Austria, Ukraine and Russia to share their reflections with other people. Through a mix of unique skills and the combination of different styles and genres. In their work they thrive to be as close and understandable as possible to the audience using elements of abstract realism, documentary and performance art.

Reni Weichselbaum: Blockflöten | Bernhard Loibner: Elektronik
Das Instrumental-Duo Knurrhahn widmet sich der Konversation von elektronischen Klangquellen mit instrumentalen Blockflötensounds. Hier treffen zwei MusikerInnen aufeinander, die einen improvisierten Dialog entwickeln in dem klangliche Texturen und musikalische Gesten zu Manifestationen von Bewegung und Ruhe verschmelzen. Ihr Ziel ist es, die Zuhörerin* zu einem aktiven Hörerlebnis zwischen mannigfaltigen Figurationen von Stille und Geräusch zu führen.
Die außergewöhnlichen Klangfarben der Paetzold- und anderer Blockflöten treffen auf pulsierende Oszillatoren, abstrakte Klangflächen und Lärmelemente aus analogen und digitalen elektronischen Instrumenten. Dabei entstehen komplexe, expressive bis meditative akustische Bilder mit intensiver Wirkung auf die Rezipientin*.

Diese akrobatische Darbietung entfaltet sich in einer mystischen Geschichte. Der Raum ist erfüllt von geheimnisvollen Klängen und Lichteffekten. Ein fühlbares Rauschen trifft auf Bewegungen, wie im Rausch. Ein Traum, der den Performer in eine andere Dimension gleiten lässt. Als ob wir einen Schlafwandelnden beobachten, der uns für kurze Zeit daran erinnert, dass beim Träumen alles möglich ist.

GLAM
GLAM _ Gloria Amesbauer
Treibende Beats, multiplizierte Pop-Stimme und elektro-experimentelle Klangkunst: „The Color, The Dark“ von GLAM (Gloria Amesbauer) erschien als Debütalbum Mitte Mai auf teacup records. GLAM bearbeitet schon seit der EP “two months / years“ (2021) die Schnittstelle zwischen Popmusik und Neuer Musik und untersucht die Intuition als musikalisches Werkzeug, um nun mit “The Color, The Dark” noch weiter unter die Hautschichten zu fahren. Das Debut-Album wurde gemeinsam mit den Bandkollegen Markus W. Schneider und Aras Levni Seyhan realisiert, die aus der experimentellen und elektro-akustischen Musikszene kommen und seit 2021 die Bühne mit Amesbauer teilen.
